Guidelines washing

Congratulations on your new training apparel from Trimtex!  We hope you will be satisfied and we thank you for choosing to buy with us.

General washing instructions

Our products are technical and therefore, we ask that you treat them with care!

Turn the piece of clothing inside out before washing and follow the washing instructions on the inside of your item.  Wash the product with similar colours, never use detergent with bleach or fabric softener as it will destroy the fibres and all of the item's technical qualities.

If the clothing is extremely dirty, it's advisable to rinse off the dirt and then wash as soon as possible.  Stain remover without bleach can be used on especially difficult stains.

Never wash our products together with products with Velcro, such as bike gloves, as this will wear out the product and increase the risk creating of holes in the product.

Washing instructions down jackets

Before considering washing your jacket, establish if it is only a stain that requires removal.  If you choose to was your jacket you will need a tumble dryer.  It's possible to wash our jackets on a gentle program of 30°c and we do not recommend the use of fabric softner as this can make your down sticky.
Immediately after washing, the jacket should be put in the tumble drier at a low temperature (max. 50 °C).  Put three tennis balls with the jacket in the tumble dryer which will assist with maintaining your fluffy down interior. Remove your jacket every 15 minutes to spread the down/padding by hand if necessary.  It is not unusual that the down/padding sticks together when washing, but it can be spread out by hand, as long as it is done during the drying process.

If the washing instructions are not been followed and the down/padding has stuck together during the washing, we recommend to wash and dry the jacket again, following the instructions above.

Washing of shell jackets

Whilst washing technical clothing, it is recommended to follow the washing instructions carefully.  Fabric softener should not be used for this kind of clothing, as it will clog the pores in the fabric.  Most technical garments are impregnated with a water repellent material on the outside of the fabric.  This impregnation will gradually be broken down when the clothing is used.  Without this impregnation, the clothing will lose its sweat transporting qualities, because the outer fabric will take in water and block the damp that should be let out.

Necessary cleaning and re-impregnation of the clothing will improve the durability of the technical function and be more beneficial for the user.

Some tips and advices when washing and re-impregnating your garment :

  • Always check the clothing’s washing instructions
  • Close all zippers, loosen elastic bands and close all Velcro openings.
  • Remove all remains of old detergents in the washing machine with paper.
  • Wash at 30 °C, normal program, use 40 °C for especially dirty clothing (check the washing instruction, if the clothing can take this temperature)
  • If the clothing needs to be impregnated, do this after wash. The impregnation will not stick to dirty clothing.
  • When impregnating, heat is required to activate the impregnation. The easiest is to use a tumble dryer or a drying closet. If the clothing is not suitable for a tumble dryer, use an iron at a low temperature. Put the clothing in the tumble drier for 20 min after applying the impregnation.

Washing instructions fleece

When washing fleece, it is recommended to wash inside out to maintain the quality of the clothing as long as possible.  If fleece is exposed to a direct skin contact, odours can occur in their synthetic fibres.  If this occurs, it is recommended to use a detergent for synthetic clothing.  Follow the washing instruction on the inside of the clothing.  We do not recommend the use of fabric softener for fleece clothing, as this can destroy the fibres in the fabric.

Washing instructions for cycling pants

The cycling pants can be washed at 40 °C in the washing machine.  Use detergent without bleach, as this destroys the elasticity in the fabric.  They should be washed inside out.  Do not bleach.  They can be ironed at low temperatures (max. 110 °C).  Gentle dry cleaning.  Can be dried in a tumble dryer.

Washing instructions cotton

Clothing that mainly contains cotton, can be washed in the washing machine at 40 °C.  Always wash the clothing with similar colours, as there can be extra colouring.  If you put cotton clothing in the tumble dryer, you risk shrinkage, always read the label.
